Our department of Prof. Reuther studies strongly coupled electron systems with a special focus on quantum magnetism. We are particularly interested in a theoretical description of frustrated spin models, possibly hosting novel types of quantum states, so-called spin liquids. In collaboration with our colleagues at the Freie Universität Berlin (cooperation partner), we aim to transfer our knowledge about these models to real materials, in order to develop a microscopic understanding of magnetic materials.
