Lise-Meitner Campus in Berlin-Wannsee
Energy is our matter – in the future as well: The Lise-Meitner Campus is preparing itself for new tasks in energy materials research.
The HZB supervisory board decided in June 2013 that operation of the facility, and thus neutron research, would be discontinued by the end of 2019. Since this time the site has been in a state of radical change – and is preparing for new tasks. Considerable investments are being made in this regard: the Wannsee campus is currently being expanded into one of the most modern sites worldwide for energy and materials research.

X-ray CoreLab
The X-ray CoreLab provides a variety of modern X-ray diffractometers. An outstanding feature of the X-ray CoreLab is the in-situ analysis of structural phase transitions, the investigation of structure, microstructure and texture of thin layers, as well as the analysis of internal tensions in materials. For more detailed information please visit the CXR webpage.
CCMS - CoreLab Correlative Microscopy and Spectroscopy
The CoreLab: Correlative Microscopy and Spectroscopy (CCMS) at HZB, is dedicated to support research projects from within HZB by means of electron, ion and light microscopes that are equipped with numerous tools for spectroscopy and materials fabrication. Inquiries from external institutions and companies are welcomed, too. Please visit the CCMS webpage for more detailed information.
QM - CoreLab for Quantum Materials
The CoreLab Quantum Materials offers a suite of instruments and methods for the synthesis and the investigation of new materials relevant for energy and information technologies. The methods are quite general and can be applied to many other material classes. This CoreLab makes them available to all HZB scientists, external scientists and also commercial users. More detailed information can be found at the QM webpage.
Cyclotron - The facility for proton therapy and radhard
The whole facility accelerator complex, together with the beam line system, power supplies, and cooling elements, fills a factory hall. The heart of the facility are two particle accelerators. With these, the accelerator crew of HZB provides a proton beam which is perfectly adapted to the needs of the eye tumour therapy. On the experimental station, the proton beam can be tailored to the individual needs of the experiment. For more detailed information please visit the following webpages:
