From Purification to Stability: Comprehensive Protein Analysis at the HZB-MX Biolab

Gain valuable insights into your protein samples with the Protein Characterization Labs at the HZB-MX Biolab Facility. Available to both internal and external users of the BESSY II synchrotron, our labs offer essential tools for protein purity assessment, buffer optimization, and stability testing—helping you prepare your samples for structural studies.

Equipment for Reliable Protein Analysis

Our facility provides key instrumentation for routine protein characterization, including:
CFX96 Touch Real-Time PCR System – For quantitative and qualitative analysis of nucleic acids and proteins.
UV/Vis Plate Reader (Tecan SPARK) – For absorbance and fluorescence measurements in multi-well formats.
Nanodrop 1000 Spectrophotometer – For rapid, small-volume quantification of proteins and nucleic acids.
SDS-PAGE Equipment – For protein separation and purity assessment.

Accessible & User-Friendly

Whether you need to assess protein quality before a synchrotron experiment or conduct standalone studies, our labs offer convenient access and support to help you obtain reliable results. After characterization, protein samples can be prepared for X-Ray Crystallography experiments in our HZB-MX PrepLab.
