Department Optics and Beamlines
Construction and Installation
A beamline directs the Synchrotron beam under vacuum conditions via optics from its source in the storage ring to the experiment. The beam is optimized according to the design specifications using optical elements for the respective scientific method of the experiment
The optical elements of a beamline are housed in vacuum chambers specially developed for them, in which they can be freely adjusted in their degrees of freedom, cooled as required, or moved into and out of the beam.
In addition to the planning, construction and geodetic measurement of the entire beam tube, these chambers are specified, constructed, manufactured and assembled by us. The specification, development and construction of more complex systems such as monochromators, spectrometers and special optical instrumentation (reflectometer, polarimeter, focus measuring chamber and others) are also part of our department's scope of work.
